The Importance of Gloucester City Mission’s Life-Changing Work
GCM has a simple yet profound aim: to provide HOPE.
Through their wide range of services, they offer day-shelter, food, clothing, and, most importantly, friendship to people who are homeless or struggling.
Although here at Redbridge, as a heating and renewable technology installation company, our work would appear to be completely different, we have similar values to GCM.
We believe that the best approaches are holistic because having a broad perspective helps address both clients’ immediate needs as well as their long-term challenges.

Here are some ways GCM makes an impact across three key areas:

GCM’s street teams and day centres provide vital day-to-day assistance:
- Retreat: A day shelter where those who are street homeless can find food, showers, laundry facilities, beds, and clothes.
- Refresh: A weekly hot sit-down meal and time for fellowship.
- Restore: A clothes bank providing fresh clothing, toiletries, and emergency provisions.
- Mobile Outreach: Support for rough sleepers outside the city centre.

As a company, we here at Redbridge believe in the power of education. For this reason, we support a wide range of local organisations, schools and initiatives that empower people in order to create more opportunities and better future for us all.
The Gloucester City Mission’s transformational programmes include:
- Renew: An education and training centre providing skills and support for a fresh start.
- NA Groups and Recovery Meetings: Safe spaces for people in recovery to find encouragement and accountability.
They also offer spiritual growth opportunities and a sense of community.

Through their Revive Coffee House and other initiatives, GCM also creates employment and volunteering opportunities for those with lived experience of homelessness or addiction. These programs aim to help their clients rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.
At Redbridge, we understand the need for opportunities regardless of your background and past. For that reason, at our own company we prioritise creating employment and training opportunities for people who normally would not be given a chance.
This includes supporting women to enter the typically male-dominated professions of electricians and construction. We also regularly create apprenticeships and on-the-job training for those with low-income backgrounds, neurodivergence and long-term unemployment.
