Masjid-e-Noor Mosque Installation

Bringing Sustainability to Masjid E Noor: A Solar Success Story

If you’ve ever walked through Gloucester, you may have come across Masjid E Noor – a landmark that has stood as a symbol of faith, community, and resilience since the early 1980s.

As the first purpose-built mosque in the Southwest of England and Wales, it has been at the heart of the city’s Muslim community for decades. Now, it is taking a pioneering step towards sustainability with the installation of a commercial solar PV system.

Why We Worked with Masjid E Noor

At Redbridge Property Services, we believe in creating energy solutions that not only benefit our clients but also contribute positively to the wider community and environment.

Masjid E Noor, managed by the Gloucester Muslim Welfare Association, has long been a place of worship, education, and support for local residents.

By investing in renewable energy, they are leading by example—showing that faith and sustainability can go hand in hand.

The Solar Solution

We recently installed a high-performance solar PV system at Masjid E Noor, comprising 84 solar panels with a total system size of 36.12 kWp.

This installation is expected to generate approximately 32,760 kWh of clean energy annually both helping them lower costs and ensure a healthier community and future for all. Over the next 25 years, this translates to an impressive 819,000 kWh—providing substantial energy savings and reducing reliance on the grid.

Environmental & Financial Impact

One of the most compelling reasons for making the switch to solar energy is the long-term environmental and financial benefits. The installation at Masjid E Noor is expected to:

  • Save 6,783 kg of CO2 emissions per year—equivalent to planting over 300 trees annually.
  • Reduce total CO2 emissions by 169,575 kg over 25 years, significantly cutting the mosque’s carbon footprint.
  • Deliver financial savings of £177,708 over 25 years, helping the mosque reinvest in its community-focused initiatives.
  • Achieve a payback period of just 6 years, making this a cost-effective and sustainable investment.

A Community Landmark Going Green

Masjid E Noor has always been more than just a place of worship. Since its establishment, it has grown to serve as a cultural and educational hub, hosting prayer services, religious classes, and community outreach programs.

By embracing solar energy, the mosque is strengthening its role as a leader in the community—not just spiritually, but environmentally too.

Why This Matters

In today’s world, the need for sustainable solutions is greater than ever. Energy prices continue to rise, and the effects of climate change are becoming more apparent.

By switching to renewable energy, here at Redbridge Property Services we see how Masjid E Noor is setting a powerful example for other places of worship, businesses, and homeowners in Gloucester and beyond.

All of us here at Redbridge Property Services, we are proud to have played a part in this transition. As a company, we thrive on solving complex challenges, whether it’s making buildings more energy-efficient, reducing carbon footprints, or helping organisations take control of their energy usage.

This project perfectly aligns with our mission: delivering sustainable solutions that make a lasting impact.
