What Is a Heat Pump?
A Heat Pump is an energy-efficient alternative to traditional gas or oil boilers. There are various types: Air Source Heat Pumps, Ground Source Heat Pumps and Air-to-Air Heat Pumps.
In this blog, we’ll focus on Air Source Heat Pumps, as these are often the easiest replacement for a gas/oil boiler and also eligible for government funding in the UK.
Air Source Heat Pumps are installed outside your home and work by extracting heat from the air to warm your water and heating system.
They run on electricity but are incredibly efficient. Most studies show that Air Source Heat Pumps produce, on average, three units of heat for every unit of electricity used. This makes them up to 300% more efficient than a gas boiler.
