The James Hopkins Trust, founded in 1989, was born from love and determination. Heather Hopkins and her husband established the charity in memory of their son James, whose life, though tragically brief, inspired them to create a legacy of care and compassion.
What began as a simple act of kindness, a nurse offering parents respite, has grown into a lifeline for over 100 families annually.
Their purpose-built facility, Kites Corner, offers a sensory room, soft play, and gardens where children can laugh, play, and create magical memories.
Supporting Their Children
For over 30 years, the James Hopkins Trust has stood as a beacon of hope for families navigating unimaginable challenges. But it’s not just their history that moves us; it’s the shared ethos of community-driven care that makes this partnership so meaningful to us at Redbridge.
Our Managing Director has a deeply personal connection to this cause. As the parent of twins requiring lifelong care, he and his wife faced the daunting question many parents in similar circumstances ask: How are we going to support them without burning ourselves out?
This concern led them to establish Gemini Assisted Living, a care company devoted to providing high-quality, compassionate support for young adults with autism and other complex needs.
Like the James Hopkins Trust, Gemini Assisted Living was born out of necessity, driven by a desire to ensure dignity, independence, and a fulfilling future for those who need it most.
Both Gemini Assisted Living and the James Hopkins Trust were founded by local parents responding to the profound needs of their children. This shared origin story underscores a fundamental truth: when communities come together, they can achieve extraordinary things.
